The district administration in Bengaluru has taken action against illegal water tanker operations in response to the water crisis. To address the issue of private tankers increasing their prices, the district collector of Bangalore City has set fixed rates for 200 private tankers for a period of four months. This decision was made following a request from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). The standardized rates for the tankers are as follows: Rs 600 for a 6,000-litre tanker within a 5 km distance, Rs 700 for an 8,000-litre tanker, and Rs 1,000 for a 12,000-litre tanker. These rates include GST.

A 6,000 litre water tanker is available for Rs 750 for distances exceeding 5 km but within 10 km. If you require an 8,000 litre tanker, the cost will be Rs 850, while a 12,000 litre tanker will cost Rs 1,200. It has been reported that some private tankers in Bengaluru are charging residents between Rs 1,800 and Rs 2,000 for a 12,000 litre tanker, which has led to complaints from several residents.
