Arun Goel’s sudden resignation as Election Commissioner just days before the anticipated announcement of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections schedule has caused quite a stir. The Congress party is alleging that the government is trying to avoid a “free and fair election.” It’s worth noting that Goel’s term was supposed to last until November 2027, and he was even set to become the Chief Election Commissioner in 2025.
