Section 144 Across The Andhra Pradesh State
CEO: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Andhra Pradesh, Mukesh Kumar Meena, has emphasized strict enforcement of Section 144 across the state, indicating that any violation will be met with severe consequences. Meena reported that 1.99 lakh posters, banners, and hoardings have been removed from public areas over three days, and reiterated that campaigns and roadshows cannot proceed without prior permission. He warned that those who contravene these rules will face stringent action.
Meena, along with Director General of Police (DGP) KV Rajendranath Reddy and Chief Secretary (CS) KS Jawahar Reddy, convened a meeting with officials from various departments at the state secretariat. The meeting focused on reviewing cyber security, IT infrastructure, sweep operations, law and order, security arrangements, communication plans, complaint redressal mechanisms, voter helplines, and facilities at polling centers.
During the review, Meena disclosed that 385 cases were filed against violators within a span of three days. Additionally, he mentioned the reception of 1307 complaints through the Sea Whistle App, primarily concerning liquor stocks. Meena assured that action would be taken within 100 minutes of receiving complaints through the app, noting that 74 percent of reported issues have been resolved thus far. He highlighted the app’s capability to capture photos and videos, emphasizing its role in enforcing Section 144.
